Green Seal: Ballot on Draft Final Revised Standard for Industrial and Institutional Cleaners, GS-37
By Stephen Ashkin

Green Seal, who on Friday (4/18) announced that after more than a 14 months of work its revision to GS-37, is ready for comment and balloting.

At this point I am still unsure how I want to vote since I haven’t had time to analyze the final document, although I still have concerns relative to how they have dealt with ingredients that cause asthma relying on just a single published report to ban ingredients, allowing some products to be tested in their use-dilution concentration as opposed to the product as it is shipped/packaged, and the overall added costs for some of the tests they will now be requiring as most of the new legislation such as in Illinois and New York give schools an easy “out” if the products cost more compared to their traditional counterparts.

I am sure I am not the only one with concerns. If any of you also have comments or concerns, please feel free to email them to me at SteveAshkin@AshkinGroup.com.

The ballot reads, "Green Seal is inviting Registered Stakeholders, through a balloting process, to vote on the Draft Final Revised Standard for Industrial and Institutional Cleaners (4-18-08) for issuance as a final standard. One vote per organization will be accepted, so please coordinate your organization's vote prior to submitting to Green Seal."

Completed ballots must be sent electronically to gs37@greenseal.org; and must be received by email at 8:00 PM Eastern/5:00 PM Pacific on May 9, 2008. More information can be found on the Green Seal website at www.greenseal.org.
