Question of the Month - December 2007

Question:  " I was recently told by a client that there are no GS-37 certified products in a crème form that contain abrasives for tough restroom jobs such as mineral deposits and water marks. I didn’t believe it and have been searching but haven’t found a single one. Do you know if he is correct or do you know of a product?

For my second question, does Green Seal certify any drain opener/deodorizers that you know of? "

Steve’s Answer:

Unfortunately you are right --- Green Seal does NOT have a standard for cream cleansers. But generally speaking I prefer cream cleansers compared to powdered cleansers because the creams reduce the potential for users to inhale the fine particles. I would just encourage you to select a cream cleanser that does NOT contain chlorine (sodium hypochlorite) or nonyl phenol ethoxylate surfactants, and preferably a minor amount of fragrance, if any at all.

As to drain openers --- Green Seal does NOT certify these, but I believe that Environmental Choice does. You can find their approved vendors at www.environmentalchoice.com.

Hope this helps,

Steve
