New Award Offers Opportunity to Recognize Customers for Green Cleaning Excellence. American School & University magazine, is collaborating with the Green Cleaning Network and the Healthy Schools Campaign to offer a Green Cleaning award modeled after their highly successful and prestigious Architectural Portfolio Awards Program. This new award offers an opportunity for companies to help their customers in educational institutions gain recognition for their exemplary Green Cleaning programs. The competition is open to all types and sizes of education institutions, both public and private, including preschools, grade schools, middle schools, high schools, universities or colleges, trade or technical schools and other types of schools (such as K-12, special education or therapeutic schools), as well as entire school districts. The Award particularly seeks to recognize teams involved in implementing Green Cleaning programs, which may include administrative and janitorial staff, vendors including janitorial product distributors and service providers, community members and advocacy groups. Entries will be judged by a panel representing school stakeholders, cleaning industry experts and school health advocates. The criteria are modeled on The Quick and Easy Guide to Green Cleaning in Schools, published by the Healthy Schools Campaign, a founding member of the Green Cleaning Network. Copies of this comprehensive guidebook can be requested by visiting http://www.healthyschoolscampaign.org. Please encourage your customers in educational institutions to apply. The application process for the first Awards is simple, requiring schools to identify what makes their program truly innovative in a series of short questions, the majority of which require a written response in less than 300 words (about one written page). In addition, schools will be given plenty of opportunity to identify team members -- including distributors and contractors-- and to highlight those things that truly make the program worthy of the Award. Calls for entries have begun, and the deadline for submissions is mid-September. Award winners will be profiled in the December issue of American School & University where they will be recognized before over 65,000 subscribers and 108,000 subscriber colleagues who will not only see you recognized for your accomplishments, but will have an opportunity to learn from the best of the best.
